Help and FAQs

Answers to the most common questions. If yours isn’t here, email support@theoffloadapp.com, in English or French. We usually reply within two working days.

1. Getting started

When is Offload out, and on which phone?

Planned for Tuesday 17 November 2026 on iPhone (iOS 16.4 or later), in the UK, Ireland, France and the rest of Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. An Android version is planned, with no date yet.

Will it work on my iPhone?

Offload needs an iPhone running iOS 16.4 or later. A few features need a newer version: ticking off a task right in the widget (iOS 17), the ‘Note’ and ‘Shopping’ Control Centre controls (iOS 18), and ‘Ring like an alarm’, even on silent (iOS 26). Live Activities also show in the Dynamic Island on iPhone models that have one.

How much does it cost?

Pricing isn’t set yet. We’ll announce it here and email everyone on the list before we charge for anything. Whatever the model: no ads, and your data is never sold.

What about Android?

Offload is launching on iPhone first. An Android version is planned, with no date yet: sign up and choose ‘Android’, and we’ll email you when it’s ready.

Which languages?

Offload speaks English (British) and French: the app, the assistant, Siri and the widgets. Siri follows your iPhone’s language.

I’m in Ireland, Canada, Australia or New Zealand — anything different?

Offload works the same way: tasks, calendar, lists, reminders and the assistant in English. Public holidays are available for your country (national ones; regional holidays aren’t included). The yearly household deadlines and school holidays are designed for France for now.

2. Your household together

How do I invite the other adult?

In Settings › Household, share your invite code (‘OFFLOAD-…’) or the ready-made message. The other adult installs Offload on their iPhone, chooses ‘Join an existing space’ and pastes the message or enters the code. The person who created the household approves the request.

Does the other adult need to install Offload?

To use it yourself, no: Offload already works for you. To hand things over, yes: they install Offload on their iPhone and join your household with a code; the person who created the household approves the request. They’re then notified of what you hand over, and its reminders are set on their phone as soon as they open Offload or tap the notification.

The other adult in my household has an Android phone. Will it work?

Not for them yet. At launch, Offload is iPhone-only: for a task you hand over to reach their phone, they need an iPhone. You can already use Offload yourself. Send them this page: if they sign up with ‘Android’, we’ll let them know when the Android version is ready.

The reminder for a task I handed over didn’t go off on their phone.

Check three things.

  1. They have Offload on their iPhone, with notifications on.
  2. They’ve opened Offload, or tapped the ‘Assigned by…’ notification, since you handed them the task: that’s when its reminders are set on their phone.
  3. The task has a date and a reminder.

The ‘Assigned by…’ notification itself may also wait until morning: between 21:30 and 07:30 (French time for now), household notifications are held back, and beyond three in a day, the next ones wait until morning too. Finally, if their first name is in the task’s title (‘James’s present’), Offload doesn’t notify them, to keep the surprise.

How do I know it’s done without asking?

When they complete the task, you get ‘Completed by…’. While sorting overdue tasks, ‘Ask…’ sends them ‘Is this done yet?’, and their answer comes back to you as a notification (they need Offload notifications on).

We share custody between two homes.

Today, each person belongs to one household in Offload, and a child can’t be shared between two households. Offload works for your home.

What about children?

Accounts are for adults only (18 and over). Children appear in your household as people without an account: a first name is enough. Surname and date of birth are optional and are used to place the right dates (school year, birthday, vaccinations). If the AI assistant is on, what you tell it about them may be sent to it to answer your requests; you can see, correct or delete what it remembers at any time in ‘Household memory’.

Who can see what I add?

The adults in your household, once the person who created it has approved them. Your own chats with the assistant stay private; a task’s thread is shared like the task. If you send us feedback on one of the assistant’s replies, that exchange comes to us.

3. Reminders and notifications

What reminders can I set?

For a task: a notification, an alarm or both. ‘Ring like an alarm’ rings like your alarm clock, even on silent (iOS 26). For an appointment: up to 5 reminders, set on the phone of every attendee who has Offload. And ‘Remind…’ sends a household member a notification straight away (except overnight).

Does Offload work offline?

Offload needs a connection to save your changes and share them with your household.

Siri noted my task but I can’t see it.

What you tell Siri (‘Add a task in Offload’) is noted straight away, and the task appears next time you open Offload. Siri follows your iPhone’s language.

Dictation isn’t working.

Dictation uses Apple’s speech recognition. Check that dictation is turned on in Settings › General › Keyboard, and that the dictation language is installed on your iPhone. Offload tells you what’s missing.

4. The assistant and AI

Is the AI required?

No. The first time you open Offload, it asks whether you’d like to turn on the AI assistant, which uses Google Gemini. It’s used to understand free-form requests, read a photo, draft a message and remember what matters to your household. Plenty works without it: creating a task from a simple sentence, adding to the shopping list, sorting overdue tasks, ‘Your week’. Automatic household suggestions only start once every adult has agreed. You can withdraw consent whenever you like, in Settings › Assistant.

Does the AI read everything?

Only if you turn it on. The assistant then uses Google’s AI (Gemini) and receives your request and the relevant household context: tasks, appointments (health included), lists, first names and household profile. Without AI, tasks, calendar, lists and reminders still work.

Can the assistant get things wrong?

Yes, like any AI. Check what it suggests, especially dates. Anything the assistant does can be corrected, and undone in one tap with ‘Undo’. Offload isn’t a medical tool and doesn’t give medical advice.

Can Offload send messages for me?

No. Offload drafts the email or text; it opens in your own email or messages app, and you send it.

What if I already use my phone’s calendar (Google, iCloud, Outlook)?

Offload works alongside them. If they’re on your iPhone, you choose which ones show up in Offload; a private copy, visible only to you, feeds your briefs and the assistant. The other way round, your Offload appointments can be written to your iPhone’s calendar, and changes made there come back. Offload doesn’t connect directly to your Google calendar: everything goes through your iPhone. It adds what a household needs: handing a task to someone and knowing when it’s done, and recognising ‘Granny Jo’ once she’s added to your household’s people.

5. Your data

Where is my data?

Your data is hosted in Europe, in Sweden, kept separate for each household and encrypted in transit and at rest. Offload shows no ads, doesn’t sell your data and uses no analytics tools in the app. When the AI assistant is on, what you share with it is processed by Google (Gemini) on Offload’s behalf; notifications go through Apple. Full details are in our privacy policy.

Can I get a copy of my data or delete it?

Yes: Settings › Data & privacy, to export your data (conversations and assistant memory aren’t included yet) or delete your account.

How do I delete my account?

Settings › Data & privacy › Delete my account. If you’re the only member of your household, the household and everything in it is deleted. If other members remain, what you created for the household (tasks, lists, appointments) stays with it, no longer linked to you.

Are there ads?

No. No ads, and your data is never sold.

What do you do with my email address (waiting list)?

It’s only used to email you about Offload’s launch: a welcome email, one update before launch, then the link on the day, plus anything else you agreed to (beta, tips after launch). It’s kept in Europe, never sold or shared, and deleted as set out in our privacy policy. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
